Found Cardboard Sculpture

Cardboard Kitchen: The Edibles Series. 2006-2015. Recycled found cardboard. Selected works.

We thoughtlessly discard much of what we use, and much of what we use is ‘disposable’. When cardboard is no longer being used as it was originally intended, I enter it into a transcribing process. It also becomes a tool I can deconstruct into components that reveal a relationship between the parts and the whole.
I see it as re-creating in the space where the boxes existed. And, it’s very ripe for exploring metaphor.

I created architectural pieces using recycled cardboard from 1999-2006. These required straight cuts and minimal manipulation. I then became focused on the challenge of using the component parts in a much more organic form. The Edibles Series was born.
